CHANDERI FABRICS
Chanderi, a town in Central India, is renowned throughout India for the quality of its fabrics. The lightweight yet luxurious feel of its fine, handspun cotton explains why Chanderi saris were the choice of royalty for generations. Over time, though, these ancient traditions have begun to give way to more commercial means of production . Akshata has worked closely with Raw Mango, an organization dedicated to reviving ancient craft techniques, to develop chanderi fabrics for the fall collection. In some, the traditional cotton yarn has been infused with silk and zari, producing an exceptionally luxurious effect.
